Product Owner Data Warehouse
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- IT Development
Job description
Product Owner Data Warehouse
Different data needs, competing priorities. Do you enjoy bringing them together into one clear direction? Can you connect business, architecture and engineering? Great. We’re looking for you.
As Product Owner Data Warehouse, you own the development of our enterprise data warehouse (DWH). You ensure it provides a reliable, scalable foundation, with clear responsibilities and standards for managing and using data. It supports reporting, risk management, finance and other data-driven applications across the bank. Your goal: to make our data platform increasingly valuable without adding unnecessary complexity.
What will you do as Product Owner Data Warehouse?
You own the vision, roadmap and backlog of our DWH, which is central to our data landscape and supports all domains across the bank.
You work closely with Data Engineering and Data Architecture on the technical direction of the DWH, making sure we develop the right capabilities in the right order. You keep standards high and make informed trade-offs between new functionality, platform improvements, technical debt and data quality.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Set the direction. Translate business, regulatory and strategic needs into clear priorities and a coherent DWH roadmap.
Make informed choices. Balance new use cases, platform improvements, technical debt, data quality and architectural needs based on value, risk and dependencies.
Connect business, architecture and engineering. Translate business needs into clear outcomes and ensure technical solutions remain scalable, maintainable and aligned with our wider data architecture.
Embed data quality and governance. Ensure ownership, definitions, controls, data lineage and data quality requirements are built into the development of the DWH.
Drive delivery and adoption. Coordinate dependencies, resolve blockers and ensure new DWH capabilities are delivered, accepted and ready for use by the teams that rely on them.
Who will you work with?
You’ll join our data team in Amsterdam. We are a team of ten, including data engineers, analytics engineers and a data architect and mapping specialist. Three of our colleagues are based in our Bangkok branch.
We like building things that add value, keeping things practical and helping each other out. We work hybrid; spending part of the week in the office and part at home.
What will you get from us?
A salary between €6500 and €7500.
25 days of annual leave + 1 extra day off to celebrate something special!
The option to work from home two days per week, plus one week per year remote. (For expats, that’s two weeks.)
An annual training budget of € 1,000 to keep your skills and knowledge up to date.
A monthly benefits budget of € 25 through Epassi, with 1,001 fun or useful things to choose from.
A fully catered lunch on us every week. (On other days, you’ll arrange your own. Luckily, we’re right next to the Amsterdamse Poort shopping area, so there’s plenty to choose from.)
The opportunity to meet your colleagues in Thailand.
Job requirements
Who are you?
You’re comfortable working across business, data and technology. You bring structure to competing demands and understand that the DWH serves many different users. You’re confident asking challenging questions of both business and technical colleagues while keeping everyone focused on the shared goal.
You know when a robust, scalable solution is needed and when a practical first step is enough. Not everything is mapped out yet? You’re comfortable with that. You turn complex challenges into clear priorities and workable solutions.
You don’t need to build data pipelines yourself. You do need to understand data well enough to ask the right questions, challenge assumptions and make informed decisions together with technical experts.
What you bring:
5 years of experience as a product owner, preferably in a data-driven environment
a track record of meeting tight deadlines without compromising quality
experience coordinating work across business and technical teams
a good understanding of data flows, data definitions and data quality
familiarity with data lineage, data modelling and data transformation
the ability to explain complex topics clearly and facilitate discussions that help people reach decisions together
Initiative: you take ownership of your work and move things forward independently
a structured, practical approach and strong English communication skills
Nice-to-haves:
experience in financial services, preferably in regulatory reporting, with familiarity with relevant authorities and frameworks such as EBA, ECB, DNB, BCBS 239 and AnaCredit
familiarity with BIRD, FIBO or similar data models, or the curiosity to get up to speed quickly
experience working with data engineering environments (You won’t build them yourself, but you’ll work closely with the people who do.)
experience with agile ways of working and delivering products within an agile team
And one more thing: research shows that women and members of underrepresented groups often only apply if they meet 100% of the requirements. Does this sound familiar? If so, we encourage you to apply anyway. We look forward to meeting you!
